Monkee has the mission to help people improve their financial fitness by bringing saving and spending money back into a more sustainable balance. The app is built around helping people to define and reach concrete saving targets. Long-term targets will be broken down into more motivating weekly saving missions. The Monkee Finance coach then starts to approach people with digital nudges like “Hey Martin, what about saving 6 € for your kid’s laptop or colleague tuition?”. One-click and you are another 6 € closer to your target instead of spending it on stuff the next time you go shopping. Over time the machine learning-enabled coach learns when and how it needs to approach users to increase the chances of a saving contribution.

Monkee's Story

For more than 15 years the Monkee founders used to work in several different senior management positions in the premium consumer goods industry. There they had the chance to go very deep into the topic of consumer psychology and gamification. They also share a private passion for the financial industry. As they became parents they started to think a lot about how to build a financial backpack for their kids and how to teach kids sustainable money habits. During several conversations with many people, they realized that a huge part of the population really has big issues with the topic of money. In Europe alone, more than 350 Mio people could benefit from solutions that help them to better prepare for their current and future financial needs. This is where they decided to combine everything they learned in the consumer goods industry to help people to save instead of spending money.
